Timber Floor Polishing, Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong & Central Coast
Matte, satin or gloss finishes applied with durability and even coverage in mind — for freshly sanded floors or as part of a full restoration.
Choosing a Floor Finish
Polishing is what protects your timber floor and gives it its final look. We work with polyurethane and water-based finishes across three main sheens:
Matte
A low-sheen, natural look that hides everyday dust, scuffs and foot traffic marks especially well — popular in busy family homes.
Satin
The most requested option in Sydney homes, balancing a soft sheen with practical everyday durability.
Gloss
A traditional, reflective finish that makes grain and colour pop, best suited to lower-traffic formal areas.
We bring physical finish samples to your quote so you can see how each option looks on your own timber before deciding.
Polyurethane vs Water-Based Finish
- Solvent-based polyurethane: Extremely hard-wearing with a warmer amber tone over time, but with a stronger odour during application and longer cure time.
- Water-based finish: Low odour, faster drying, and keeps timber looking closer to its natural colour — a good option if you need rooms back in use sooner.
Our Polishing Process
- Floor is fully sanded and vacuumed to remove all dust
- Stain applied if a colour change or feature stain has been selected
- Sealer coat applied to lock in colour and prepare for topcoats
- 2-3 topcoats applied with light sanding between coats for adhesion
- Final inspection and aftercare guidance provided
Polishing Without a Full Sand
If your existing finish is only lightly worn, you may not need a full sand at all — see our recoating & resurfacing service for a faster, lower-cost refresh.
